Blind stock count. The real interface, filled with invented demo data.

By hand, and with Keystone OS.

By hand today

Someone prints the stock sheet with the system quantity in a column and walks the shelves with a pen. When the paper says six, people tend to find six. The count confirms the sheet instead of checking it.

Differences get fixed by typing over the figure in the spreadsheet. Later, nobody can say which corrections came from the count, who made them, or whether sales kept moving stock while the count was going on.

With Keystone OS

A count is opened for one branch and one section. Stock movement in that section is locked from the moment it starts, so its sales and transfers wait instead of muddying the figures, while the rest of the shop keeps trading. Staff scan in count mode and enter what they find, with no system figure on their screen.

The manager sees system, counted and variance for each SKU, can filter to the differences only, and sends doubtful lines back for a recount. The cost of the variance is shown before anything is applied, and each correction becomes its own entry in the stock ledger.

How it runs.

  1. Open the count

Choose the branch and section. Movement there locks until the count is applied.

  2. Count blind

Staff scan each item and enter what is on the shelf. The system figure stays hidden.

  3. Review the variance

The manager compares counted against system, line by line, and asks for a recount where a number looks wrong.

  4. Apply corrections

Pick the differences to accept and apply them together. Each one is written to the ledger.

Where it stops.

It does not

  • Does not explain why stock went missing; it shows where and how much so a person can look.
  • Does not apply a correction on its own; a manager picks which differences to accept.
  • Does not freeze the whole shop; only the section being counted is locked.
