The working.

Formula

  1. Tools for the year: tools and data per month, times 12.

  2. Manager time for the year: hours a week, times the hourly cost, times 52 weeks.

  3. First-year cost of the hire: base salary, plus tools for the year, plus manager time for the year.

  4. Ramp: monthly salary times months to ramp, shown as the part of the salary paid before the rep is at full pace. It is already inside the salary, so it is not added twice.

  5. JJLeads for the year: $4,000 times 12, which is $48,000.

Where the defaults come from

  • Base salary: $70,000 a year, the figure our sales deck uses for one in-house sales rep, before tools and management. Change it to the offer you would make.
  • Tools and data per month: $0. Enter what you would pay for seats, data and a dialer; we do not guess your stack.
  • Manager time: 0 hours a week. Enter the hours someone senior would spend hiring, coaching and reviewing calls.
  • Manager hourly cost: $0. Enter that person's loaded hourly cost.
  • Months to ramp: 0. Enter how long before the rep books meetings at full pace.
  • JJLeads: $4,000 a month, so $48,000 for 12 months. Fixed, from our published pricing.

Reading the result.

With only the salary filled in, the total is incomplete on purpose. Every other default is zero, so the hire's cost only grows as you add your own numbers. Nothing here is padded to make the retainer look cheaper.

Turnover risk is not modeled. If a rep leaves inside the year, you pay for a second search and a second ramp, and this total does not show it.

Our $48,000 includes a ramp too. The guarantee of 10 to 15 qualified demos a month applies from the end of a 90-day ramp, so compare a ramping hire with a ramping retainer.

The hire is the better choice when outbound is a function you want to own, train and manage in-house for years. This calculator measures cost, not control.

Questions buyers ask.

Why is the salary default $70,000?

It is the figure our sales deck uses for one in-house rep before tools and management. Pay varies by city and seniority, so replace it with the offer you would actually make.

What does the $48,000 buy?

Skilled BDRs on email and LinkedIn with cold-calling professionals on the phone, our own outreach engine, a person approving every send, and 10 to 15 qualified demos a month by the end of the 90-day ramp, guaranteed, or we keep working at no extra charge.

Am I locked in for the year?

No. The 12 months are there to match a first-year salary. After the 90-day ramp the retainer runs month to month.
